What is a Homestay?
A Homestay is a unique opportunity for a student to stay with a Canadian family while learning English.

Will I have my own internet connection?
We provide Wirless Internet for all our Guest

Do students who stay in homestays learn English faster?
Yes. By spending time with those who speak English, students are able to learn the language faster.

Will I have my own room?
Yes. you will have your own private room.

What items will be in my room?
Each Guest room contains a bed and bed linens, a desk, chair, dresser, closet, and mirror.

Do I need to bring my own Bedding?
No. All bedding is supplied by the Homestay. Please leave your bedding at home.

Can I change my Room Option for Meals?
Yes, you may change your meal options at the beginning of a new month, you may select between Option 1 or 2
what ever suits you best.

May I Cook my own food?
All meals are prepaired and cooked by the Homestay Host. We provide a very large variety of meals for our guests.
All meals are fresh home made. There are no Options for our Guests to cook thier own meals. We do all the cooking for you.

Will I receive a key to the house?
We do not use keys to unlock the main door to the house we will issue a special code to unlock the door.
This way there are no keys to loose or replace.

Will I be able to watch television?
Yes, at reasonable hours.

Can I use the host family's telephone?
Yes, You may make local telephone calls. All long distance calls must be made using a prepaid calling card.

May I smoke in the house?
No, outside smoking only. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Can I do laundry in the Homestay?
The Host will clean your room and do all your laundry for you once a week.

Will I have a curfew (time that I need to return to the Homestay each night?
You do not have a curfew. Unless you are under the age of 18. However, it is customary that you notify your host family
if you will miss dinner or will return to the house late.

Can I have guests come to the Homestay?
Yes, but only with the host family's permission. No Over night Guests.

Can I stay at a friend's house during my visit?
Yes. If you are over the age of 18. Please notify your host family that you will be staying outside the Homestay for the evening.

Can I eat my meals or have food in my Room
No. All meals must be eaten at the Dinning Room table. No food is to be taken to or stored in your room.

Do I give Notice to Move Out Early
Should you need to or want to check out of the homestay early, you must provide a 30 day notice to the host family. This notice should be given on the First day of the month.
Should you checkout early with out providing a proper 30 day written notice, you must pay the next months Homestay Fee minus Food Cost.

If I select to share a room, Do I share it with a stranger?
Shared rooms are only for brothers, sisters, couple's or two best friends of the same gender. We would not allow our guests to share a room with some one they do not know.

Why do I need to pay a Security Deposit?
A security deposit is any money a landlord takes from a tenant other than the advance payment of rent. The security deposit serves to protect the landlord if the tenant breaks
or violates the terms of the lease or rental agreement. It may be used to cover damage to the property, cleaning, key replacement, or back rent.

Will I get the Security Deposit Back?
Yes, as long as there are no damages to the property and that you have not broken or violated the rental or lease agreement. Your Security deposit will be returned to you within
30 days if not on the day you move out.

Can I have a Hot Plate to warm food or hot drinks in my room?
No! At no time may a guest have a hot plate to heat you warm food or drinks in the room. It is a FIRE Hazard and not permitted by City By-Law

Can I have a Humidifier in my room?
No humidifiers will leave a fine powder residue on the furniture, walls & bedding. They will also short out the Smoke Detector in the room.

If I feel cold in my room can I have a portable heater to keep warm.
NO! We have an excellent home furnace that will keep your room warm and comfortable during the cold season. Portable Heaters are not permitted as they are a FIRE HAZARD and not permitted by City By-Law.
